Description
During my niece's visit here we were at Woodlawn Cemetery for me to not only take photos, but I was having the joy of teaching her and my other two nieces about photography. so all four of us were snapping away when we came to grave of a teacher we had in grade school. My niece pictured here, who lives out of town, had not been here when he passed and so had walked up to his grave to pay her respects. I thought what a fitting photo. Teachers often do not receive respect in life let alone in death.
I was fortunate enough to have been able to tell Mr. Styba how much I had appreciated him as a teacher myself before he died. How much I had learned from him. It was from him in the 5th grade that I learned my love of history. He was young then, just out of college. His enthusiasm was infectious and he made learning fun. I was glad my children and my sister's children were able to have him as a teacher. He was grateful to hear how he had made such an impact on not only my life, but my entire family's. He said it wasn't often a teacher received such a compliment. So Mr. Styba, this photo is for you.
