I love the milkweed plant. I know I've said this time and again. I can't help it. I find them to be the one plant that year round offers a different and beautiful look to be appreciated. Yes, even in the cold of winter, when the pod is brown and withered. In my opinion, this plant shows the stages of life so beautifully. I can never get enough time just looking at it and watching it change throughout a year.
This photo shows the pod just opening up in early autumn getting ready for the wind to take its seeds and scatter them to the four corners of the earth to grow where ever they fall. Or maybe become a meal for a bird. The white silky tops with the morning dew on them just caught my eye. I loved the contrast of light on the dewy silk against the rough exterior of the drying pod itself.
