Description
Meet Cousin GW Streaker Strump was quite well known in the 70's for his streaking. The song "The Streak" by Ray Stevens, was actually about him! You never knew where he was going to turn up. He was going to streak at the Oscars until he was upstaged by Robert Opel at the 46th Academy Awards in 1974.
He is descended from a long line of streakers...in fact, it was one of his forbears who began the tradition of streaking. The first recorded incident of streaking by a college student in the United States occurred in 1804 at Washington College (now Washington and Lee University) when senior GW Crump Stump was arrested for running naked through Lexington, Virginia, where the university is located. Robert E. Lee later sanctioned streaking as a rite of passage for young Washington and Lee gentlemen. Ol' Crump was suspended for the academic session, but later went on to become a U.S. Congressman.
Cousin GW gave up streaking seeing as how it now involves a risk of being charged with indecent exposure and consequently the title of "sex offender" upon conviction.
(So named because this stump barely has any bark left on it)
